JK Rowling wrote the Harry Potter books in Edinburgh - so we were really excited when one of our tour guides showed us the school she based Hogwarts on, and the area she dreamed up the story.
Edinburgh is an unimaginably small city - with a population of some 450k people. So these 2 landmarks are just down the road from the University of Edinburgh which we also got an opportunity to walk around: it's where Charles Darwin studied medicine, and more recently, where Pippa Middleton studied.
