Approaching the pyramids in the car. Wow.
The view of the city from the pyramids (which are perched on a hill)
Our tickets to get in
The Great Pyramid - the most famous and largest of all the pyramids
Just to give you an idea of the sheer size of each block
A stunning view taken behind the pyramids - with Cairo in the background
Boyfriend being a tourist
Courtenay being a tourist
One of my favourites from the trip - a pic of Courtenay with his finger in the air, pointing at nothing really. I kept telling him "oh yeah, your fingers right.on.the.pinnacle!! Hold Still" when really he looked like a kooky tourist with his finger in the middle of no where
Cairo, if I'm honest, is a large, smelly, smoggy, over-populated city. It's definitely one of those things that you have to do at least once in your life however. Seeing the pyramids and the sphinx is surreal - these are ancient statues that we've seen countless times in marketing material, textbooks, on tv and in the movies - but to see them for yourself is completely different... and humbling. They are enormous and breath-taking - an experience I definitely recommend!
More pics to follow this week!
xoxo,
Pippa
